About the Role
As the Director of Dietary Services, you will oversee the overall operation of the Dietary Services Department at Centennial Place. Reporting directly to the Administrator, you will ensure residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals that meet legislative requirements and our high standards of quality, service, and sanitation. You’ll lead a dedicated team, manage budgets, and collaborate across departments to support resident care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a Superior Dining Experience: Develop and oversee seasonal menus, standardized recipes, and food service methods that meet Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) standards.
- Support Resident Nutritional Needs: Work with the Consulting Dietitian and healthcare team to ensure residents’ dietary requirements, restrictions, and preferences are respected.
- Achieve Financial Objectives: Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor per diem costs, and maintain cost-effective operations.
- Manage and Develop Staff: Recruit, coach, and motivate staff while fostering a positive labour relations environment.
- Communication & Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, lead food committee meetings, and participate in resident and family conferences.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with public health regulations, MLTC guidelines, and company policies while maintaining a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Food Service Supervision/Nutrition Management program with membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM), OR a Registered Dietitian.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in volume food service management, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of geriatric nutrition and experience managing budgets and food service operations.
- Certifications: Valid Food Safety & Sanitation and Smart Serve.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications.
