Summary
The Restoration Design Technician will be responsible for translating environmental and geomorphological data into detailed drawings and designs. Duties will include creating design plans, technical drawings, and natural channel design layouts for various environmental projects. They will collaborate closely with environmental scientists, geomorphologists, project managers, and other stakeholders to support the successful completion of environmental projects.
Position Details
Pay: Min = $23.00/hour, Max = $32.00/hour; Candidates with significant directly related experience, specialized certifications, or proven capabilities may be eligible for compensation beyond the posted range.
Hours of Work: Minimum 40 hours per week, requiring occasional overtime
Office Locations: 36 Main Street N, Campbellville, ON, and 593 Hanlon Creek Boulevard, Guelph, ON, N1C 0B3 Travel for Work: Occasional travel to local field sites Department: Design and Restoration Work From Home: As directed by manager and when possible Existing Vacancy: Yes
Job Duties
Produce technical drawings for various environmental projects such as natural channel design, wetland restoration, soil remediation, and erosion control Draft detailed plans for environmental projects including the delineation of existing and proposed natural features, using CAD software Design layouts for environmental infrastructure such as end of pipe and outfall treatments for stormwater management system and natural channel designs Provide technical support for the preparation of permitting documents by incorporating environmental data into CAD drawings Establish and maintain design standards and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency in drafting practices Work closely with environmental scientists, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of project specifications in design software Assist in the preparation of technical reports by providing CAD drawings, graphics, and visualizations to support project findings and recommendations Other duties as required Requirements Diploma or degree in Fluvial Geomorphology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field Master’s in Environmental Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related field. Prior experience or familiarity with the environmental consulting industry is an asset Strong understanding of fluvial geomorphology and familiarity with ecological principles, sustainable design practices, and environmental regulations is an asset Proficient experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, or other relevant tools Basic knowledge of GIS software and its integration with CAD for mapping and spatial analysis is an asset Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) Effective communication skills to collaborate with designers, environmental scientists, and project managers to convey technical information clearly Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining quality and accuracy Clear Criminal Record check Valid G Class driver’s license
