About the role
Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a senior Canadian crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company.
We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, and acquisition
program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently seeking a Drilling Engineering Intern Student to join our Calgary office. Tourmaline’s
drilling team is one of the most active in Canada, drilling over 300 wells per year. This is a term position
beginning in May 2026 and running for approximately sixteen months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for, or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:
- Maintain a professional relationship with Tourmaline contractors and staff ensuring alignment with
the Tourmaline Code of Conduct, ensuring no conflict of interest is present in the relationship.
- Work with cross disciplined teams to understand Tourmaline’s upstream oil and gas business
- Complete 2-4 projects throughout the term. Projects to focus on both technical and commercial
aspects of the business
- Assist Drilling Engineer in programing and execution of pads through offset research, vendor
management and operational problem solving
- Review performance metrics and support team in continuous improvement.
- Ensure major trouble time events are well documented and shared with the Drilling Team.
- Assist Engineering Manager as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completing third or fourth year of an engineering degree program (Mechanical, Chemical, Energy,
and Petroleum/Oil & Gas disciplines preferred)
- Previous experience in oil and gas / regulatory is an asset but not required.
- Ability to think strategically and logically.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Positive and upbeat attitude.
- Well-spoken and professional.
- Takes pride and ownership in their work.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
