The Position Keyera is currently seeking a Pipeline Operator to join our KAPS Pipelines Operations Team in Grande Prairie, AB. The KAPS Pipeline Operator is responsible and accountable for the safe operation of the KAPS pipelines and all associated custody transfer locations and pump stations. This position will work to ensure safe and efficient operation of the pipeline system including pigging, surveillance, sampling, ground disturbance and damage prevention. KAPS Operators will reside in or around Grande Prairie, Alberta and will work an 8 On/6 Off shift. This is not a camp position.
Responsibilities
- Communicating with the Control Centre operations team about any site or pipeline work requiring temporary shutdowns or scheduled outages.
- Coordinating with the KAPS maintenance group and ensuring that all work is properly planned, scheduled, permitted, and executed safely.
- Liaising with engineering, surface land teams, and contractors for scheduled work on KAPS pipelines and third-party activities in and around our rights-of-way (ROWs).
- Conducting regular pigging, chemical batch runs, drain downs, and nitrogen purges of pipeline segments.
- Collaborating with integrity engineers on inspections, cut outs, and tie-ins, as well as performing leak detection testing after maintenance work.
- Work with Integrity engineers on internal inspections, cut outs, and tie-ins.
- Work with the Product Quality Specialist to help with any product specification concerns
- Prompt response to Alberta One Calls and pipeline locates when required
- Supporting project teams in commissioning and start-up plans for new assets while troubleshooting any operational concerns.
- Patrolling ROWs and crossings, maintaining proper surveillance documentation, and ensuring vegetation control on operating sites.
Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a similar role within pipeline/well operations.
- Strong understanding of pipeline operations and maintenance practices.
- Experience in conducting inspections and maintaining safety standards
- Highly organized, reliable individual with strong attention to detail.
- Valid certifications in relevant safety training (H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG, Ground Disturbance, and First Aid) are preferred; these certifications are considered an asset.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to provide a 5-year standard driver abstract (clean driver’s abstract).
- Ability to perform physical duties required for site inspections and patrols.
- This role requires the candidate to wear respiratory protective equipment, and as per Alberta OHS 250(2), the candidate must ensure an adequate seal where the facepiece of the equipment seals to the skin of the face.
