YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE Position Summary We are looking for a Scientist Equine in 4606 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 1K5 CAN. Your mission will be to:
This position is responsible for carrying out analysis of official racing samples in accordance with requirements specified by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency.
Qualifications Required
- A minimum of B.Sc. Degree in a chemical science or equivalent from a recognized academic institution
- Obtaining the Security Screening Certificate and Briefing Form at the Protected B Reliability Status is MANDATORY
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Perform sample analysis (sample extraction and data processing) using documented test methods
- Meet quality specifications defined by the laboratory to meet client and lab accreditation requirements
- Investigate problems, take remedial action as required and identify actions to prevent recurrence; maintain records
- Knowledge of peptide, protein and gene-doping analysis is an asset
- Perform with the maintenance, running and troubleshooting of ELISA, UHPLC/HRMS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC instruments, as required
- Assist in installation and validation of newly purchased instruments
- Participate in developing SOP’s and general work instructions
- Provide suggestions to Supervisor/Manager on method improvement projects and perform work on these projects if deemed necessary
- Communicate to Supervisor/Manager on any operational inadequacies such as staffing and supply issues
- Identify, communicate and record non-conformances to Supervisor and provide input to corrective action procedures
- Maintain or establish relationships with technology suppliers and assist in keeping current of the latest technological developments in the field of analytical chemistry and continuously improve laboratory systems and processes to ensure efficiency, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction and profitability
- Develop and validate analytical test methods for operations and provide training to Lab Technicians and Analysts
- Identify resource needs to ensure adequate staff and supplies to meet operational goals
- Provide Supervisor/Manager with updates on sample status including advance notification of any delays
- Other related duties as assigned.
- At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.

- Adherence to safety protocols and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Travel
- Occasional travel may be required to attend industry conferences or collaborate with other research facilities.
Compensation Package Overview
- Compe nsation Range $28 - $36/ hourly CAD depending on experience
