We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven sales professional to join our Corporate Sales team, focusing on the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of carbon offsetting mechanisms, sustainability strategies, and environmental commodities. Experience with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) is highly desirable and will be considered a significant asset. This role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and driving sales of carbon credits. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of VCM sales, strong analytical skills, and a passion for environmental markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Support & Client Engagement:
- Collaborate with senior sales staff to manage and execute carbon credit sales in VCM markets.
- Prepare client proposals, presentations, and financial models tailored to carbon market solutions.
- Support the onboarding of corporate clients and facilitate their participation in carbon trading strategies.
- Act as point person to provide client support in the form of proposals, marketing material, event planning, and scheduling with the cooperation of trading and sales, research, and marketing and with the support of a senior leader.
- Conduct proactive outreach and engagement with clients.
- Respond to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in a professional manner and determine suitable solutions.
- Support sales activities with trading strategies, definition and market information customized to suit individual client needs.
- Understand the needs of clients and provide relevant ideas and opinions based on current market dynamics to generate recommendations.
- Provide support for an outstanding client experience.
- Use good judgement in meetings, contribute and effectively communicate ideas, and ask questions to drive towards the optimal client experience.
- Develop strong market knowledge to provide comprehensive service to clients, develop new solutions, and construct compelling recommendations.
- Use analytical skills (probability, statistical inference, etc.) and apply appropriate technical concepts to support clear client communications and engagement.
- Develop reliable technical and financial reports and analysis to support client deliverables.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Develop an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models.
2. Market Research & Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research on carbon market trends, pricing, regulatory updates, and compliance frameworks.
- Monitor market developments and generate insights to identify growth opportunities for compliance carbon credit products.
- Maintain and improve data analytics tools to support sales strategies.
- Read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents in order to better serve client needs.
3. Product Structuring & Innovation:
- Assist in structuring bespoke carbon credit offerings, including carbon offsets and other environmental finance products.
- Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with the bank’s sustainability objectives.
- Understand the complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance, etc.).
4. Operational & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure transactions meet all legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
- Collaborate with risk management, compliance, and legal teams to monitor evolving market regulations and policy updates.
5. Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Liaise with trading desks, research teams, and ESG specialists to optimize product offerings and pricing strategies.
- Support marketing and thought leadership initiatives, such as whitepapers or client webinars, to promote the bank’s carbon market expertise.
- Develop and leverage relationships across businesses, senior leaders and clients to foster and support coordination.
- Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Cultivate strong relationships with the research team to understand their industries and stock coverage.
- Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, environmental studies, or a related field.

Direct experience selling RECs or carbon offsets.

Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., CDP, SBTi, TCFD, GHG Protocol).

Existing network within the sustainability or carbon trading space.

Strong knowledge of financial products and a demonstrated interest in carbon markets and sustainability initiatives.

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working with corporate clients across multiple sectors.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting standards and sustainable finance.
The salary range will range from CAD $95,000 to $115,000 at the Associate level and CAD $125,000 to $150,000 at the Vice President level dependent experience.

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
