ANNUALIZED SALARY: $52,971 - $119,945
Responsibilities The Board is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, creative, organized and professional Catholic educator/leader who is able to work effectively with the staffs, students, parents, and communities. Regular travel throughout the Board's jurisdiction is a requirement. The Multilingual Learner (MLL) Special Assignment Teacher is responsible for the following:
- Directly supporting MLL students in the schools and classrooms (e.g. ESL instruction in a variety of settings, modelling instructional and assessment strategies in the schools and classrooms);
- Supporting the implementation of evidence-based assessment tools and resources to support language acquisition;
- Supporting the implementation of the HSCDSB MLL Guide for Elementary Schools at the school level (e.g. STEPS to English proficiency and process);
- Supporting transitions and acculturation of newcomer families to our school communities;
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to provide engaging opportunities for English language development with appropriate modifications and accommodations as needed;
- Supporting families in understanding their child's learning in an Ontario school context;
- Connecting students to a network of ongoing supports in the school community to build on their strengths and respond to their individual interests, needs, and pathways.
Qualifications
- Qualifications in 2 of the 3 divisions: Primary, Junior, Intermediate
- Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 1
- Teaching English Language Learners, Part 1
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Qualifications in all four divisions
- Special Education Pt. 1
- Experience working with second language acquisition
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Strong technology skills and comfort with a wide variety of technologies (e.g. Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Translate)
