Reporting into the Chief Investment Officer, the Total Portfolio Management Group (TPM) provides a holistic lens across the OMERS investment portfolio, with responsibility for trading, funding & liquidity management, portfolio strategy, portfolio analytics and capital allocation.

As a member of the Liquidity Management team in the Total Portfolio Management group, the Senior Analyst will contribute to the team’s mission of improving OMERS’ ability to meet its promises to pensioners by managing and optimizing OMERS funding and continue to enhance our approach to liquidity management.

The right person for this role is a strong team player, demonstrates intellectual curiosity, brings outstanding communication skills and experience in financial markets.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

  • Optimize funding by closely coordinating with the Trading team to execute Securities Finance transactions (repo, delta-one derivatives and securities lending) and debt issuance in order to meet all plan needs (pension payments, expenses, investment deployment)
  • Support the implementation of a new IBOR (Aladdin) including the implementation of Centralized Funding, where all financing activity management is centralized in one portfolio
  • Keep current and share market changes and new financial products that impact OMERS funding optimization
  • Synthesizing analysis and views into clear, concise messages that can be shared with stakeholders throughout OMERS
  • Bringing new perspectives and distilling insights when analyzing our portfolio and strategies
  • Collaborating, sharing information and insights across investment teams to deliver the best outcomes for the pension plan

To Succeed In This Role, You Bring

  • 4+ years of industry experience in trading, treasury, or portfolio management at a financial institution, pension fund, insurance or asset management firm
  • University degree in business, economics, quantitative or related discipline
  • Deep experience using an Order Management Systems/IBOR (Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg, proprietary systems)
  • Knowledge and experience working with investment asset classes such as equities, bonds, foreign exchange, money markets
  • Knowledge of Securities Finance including swaps, futures, options, repos and securities lending
  • Keen interest in financial markets
  • Intellectual curiosity, an eagerness to learn, and you are thoughtful, diligent and proactive in gathering information
  • A high attention to detail that complements your ability to see the big picture
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to deliver cross-departmental projects/solutions
  • Action-oriented and proactive with a high degree of initiative
  • Effective team player with a collaborative attitude
  • Ability to multitask and manage a steady stream of priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with PowerBI preferred but not required
