The Cook prepares and cooks a variety of menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards, ensuring proper portioning, presentation, and food safety. Daily responsibilities include setting up workstations, receiving and storing food supplies, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and following health and safety regulations. The Cook collaborates with kitchen team members to support meal service, responds to special dietary needs, and assists with inventory management and waste reduction. The role may also involve supporting catering or special events as required by the operation.
Qualifications
Strong culinary skills, including basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and familiarity with standardized recipes. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and adherence to health regulations and HACCP guidelines. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks during peak service periods. Team-oriented approach with good communication skills and the ability to collaborate respectfully with colleagues and supervisors. Attention to detail in food presentation, portion control, and quality assurance. Basic math and record-keeping skills for portioning, inventory, and tracking supplies. Previous experience as a cook or in a commercial kitchen environment is an asset. Completion of a culinary program or equivalent training is an asset. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
