About the role

Job Description Fleetway Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced Ship Sustainment Lead to drive the successful delivery of complex naval engineering and sustainment initiatives that are critical to Canada’s defense capabilities. This role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical programs are executed with precision, innovation, and strategic alignment.

As a key contributor to Fleetway’s mission, the Ship Sustainment Lead plays a pivotal role in regenerating and modernizing naval systems, implementing emerging technologies, and maintaining operational readiness for the Royal Canadian Navy and other defense clients. The ideal candidate brings a systems-thinking mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities Lead Engineering and Project Teams: Guide cross-functional teams working on ship sustainment, regeneration, and technology integration projects. Foster collaboration across marine and combat systems disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.

Manage Technical Program Delivery: Oversee engineering initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring quality, efficiency, and smooth transition to downstream teams for implementation.

Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal teams, government agencies, and industry partners. Facilitate meetings and decision-making processes that support transparency and shared goals.

Drive Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Prepare clear reports on project performance, risks, and lessons learned. Use insights to improve processes and support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications Education Technical diploma in Marine Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in naval systems engineering, sustainment, technology implementation, or cross-functional project leadership within the last 10 years.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • Successful candidates must be eligible for security clearances.
