New Afton
Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.
About The Role
Schedule: Flexible work schedule options including 4 days on, 3 days off Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday or 5 days on 2 days off.
Position Reports To: Maintenance Planning Supervisor
Position Overview: Working to provide the best possible service to the maintenance execution teams and mine operations teams. The Planner is responsible for supporting the mobile maintenance execution team, producing detailed work plans, aiding in the creation of the mobile maintenance work schedules, administrating work documentation, coordinating resources, updating maintenance strategies and strategy documents.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate safety leadership through the identification of hazards for the work that they are planning. Develop efficient and effective work plans for scheduled and unscheduled mobile maintenance work For select critical equipment preventative maintenance ("PM") and repairs: create highly detailed work plans which include, but are not limited to: staging of parts at the PM location, ensuring the equipment is thoroughly washed, facilitating a pre-work meeting 2-3 days in advance of the work to obtain & action technician feedback, assembly of all the work instructions, diagrams, schematics, tools list and everything that is required for the technician to complete the work, creating detailed timelines, tracking of detailed timelines during work execution, assisting with challenges that arise during execution and reporting on the completed work and actions for improvement. Creating bill of materials, creating standard job templates, performing spares analysis and implementing the recommended spares strategy Review and update equipment maintenance strategies and strategy documents Produce and report on performance KPIs within the mobile maintenance department Understand the principles effective maintenance planning and implement continuous improvement initiatives of related processes Identify and execute business improvement opportunities Help the Integrated Operations Center Maintenance Scheduler to schedule work for an underground mining fleet of production units, support units, and light vehicles that aligns with our Mine Site priorities Ensure parts required for work are accurately supplied to technicians for their work Support our Maintenance Supervisors in their tactical needs Communicate effectively, constructively, and positively within our Planning Team, Maintenance Department, and with other departments
Qualifications
Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or post-secondary technical degree/diploma in applicable field of which significant value to this position can be demonstrated 5+ years of mobile maintenance experience Demonstrated dedication to promoting safety in the workplace Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience with SAP or comparable CMMS Advanced computer abilities in applications such as Microsoft Office suite and online parts catalogs Experience in managing contract work and materials supply Strong knowledge of warehousing principles and collaboration with Supply Chain Aptitude for mechanical work and off the road tire management Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems Attitude of environmental stewardship Displays diligence, honesty and integrity in all work-related activities Understands the tools and techniques related to excellence in Reliability Is driven by the Coeur Values of Protect, Develop, and Deliver
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $90,000 to $130,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
