Geomatic technician
Urban planning and engineering
Permanent full-time position – assumption of office on June 22nd, 2026
Salary range: $ 69,135$ – $ 90, 016.43
The role involves managing the geomatics system and ensuring its enhancement and development. The incumbent coordinates the implementation of new geomatics applications. The incumbent serves as the geomatics system administrator within the Autodesk mapping products environment and SQL Server for databases.
Main responsibilities
- Manages the geomatics system as an administrator.
- Participates in the design, enhancement, and development of new geomatics applications.
- Ensures that the interfaces between various corporate systems related to geomatics function properly, verifies database integrity, and updates data on a regular basis;
- Meets with requesters from various departments regarding specific projects, reviews requests, determines their feasibility based on system constraints and available database data, and collaborates with them to define deliverables in accordance with their supervisor’s approval;
- Designs and programs SQL tables and queries to enable interaction between various corporate systems and develops queries for specific project requests;
- Collaborate on the development of corporate systems for queries, call management, etc.;
- Meet with geomatics consultants to analyze the integration of special projects, draft technical or administrative reports, and recommend the best options;
- Provides training to users of the geomatics system;
- Produces thematic maps from geomatics data for various departments;
- Coordinates, verifies, and performs surveying using a GPS and a total station, and processes the data using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Operates various surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS units, levels, etc., as well as other CAD-related devices;
- Enters field survey data into the appropriate databases;
- Ensures the completion of technical drawings (CAD) requested by various departments;
- Updates cadastral maps, development plans, traffic plans, water and sewer plans, street plans, sidewalk plans, curb plans, and lighting plans, including profiles and all other plans related to their work;
- As needed, acts as a supervisor for civil engineering and sewer works;
- As needed, acts as a resource person for the interpretation of surveying documents;
##Qualifications required
Required qualifications:
- Technical college diploma or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of experience
- Knowledge of technical drawing
- Knowledge of computer-aided design (AutoCAD)
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to perform analytical work
- Ability to draft documents
- Ability to communicate information
- Valid driver’s license
