####Senior Accounting Technician

THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a bilingual, autonomous and diligent professional to join our Montreal-based team as our Senior Accounting Technician. Reporting to the FP&A Manager based in the Lynge, Denmark headquarters, the Senior Accounting Technician will be responsible for payroll processing, general bookkeeping, journal entries and filing quarterly and annual remittances to ensure compliance with both Canadian and US regulatory instances. This role supports the global finance function of the company by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial information.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and process payroll for Canadian and US employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all federal, provincial, state and other applicable taxes and regulations including, payroll deductions, ROE, salary declaration, year-end tax statements, etc.
- Process employee expense reports to be included in payroll cycles.
- Calculate sales commissions and ensure payments to agents are issued in a timely manner.
- Prepare inter-company chargebacks, depreciation of fixed assets, amortization of lease and long-term debt.
- Prepare and submit sales tax remittances, for Canada and the US.
- Participate in the inventory management process, ensuring inventory adjustments are documented and entered in compliance with company policy.
- Participate in the annual audit process in collaboration with global finance and external auditors.
- Facilitate the proper filing of tax returns for Canada and US in collaboration with external partners.
- Support the FP&A Manager with finance process improvements and ad-hoc requests.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Diploma in accounting or finance (AEC, Technical DEC, or equivalent training in administration/accounting) with 5 to 7 years of experience in a position with similar responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Excel, and with payroll and integrated accounting systems (ERP), familiarity with ADP and Business Central is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and US payroll laws and standards, accounting rules, and sales taxes.
- Experience working for a manufacturing company, in a multi-currency and multi-company environment.
- Bilingualism: English and French mandatory, both spoken and written.
