Under the general direction of the Planning & Design Section Leadership, this position is responsible for assisting with facility projects that enhance the employee experience. This position will leverage professional education and subject-matter expertise to provide healthy, supportive and sustainable workplaces. The successful candidate will support furniture and design guidelines, develop long-term space plans and work closely with the Planning & Design team to deliver capital projects. This is a term opportunity for a period of approximately 2 years.
Responsibilities
- Meet with internal Manitoba Hydro staff (clients) to develop scope and program for space accommodation requests. Ensure that space requests are compatible with corporate design guidelines and balance client's needs with a mandate to provide best-value space accommodations.
- Develop interior design concepts for clients, including test-fit scenarios and furniture layouts, for review and sign-off by internal customers. Provide construction drawings, including finish schedule and technical specifications for select projects, as required.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive master plan for corporate workspace to ensure alignment with organizational goals, aesthetics, and functionality.
- Provide project management, focusing on the design phase, for interior renovation projects with a construction value up to $3 million.
- Conduct assessments of existing space and propose design solutions for best practices in accessibility and inclusivity to align with CSA B651: Accessible Design for the Built Environment.
- Assist with developing and maintaining corporate furniture, finish and space standards.
- Research emerging trends for space utilization and maintain corporate-wide space management software.
- Liaise with Workplace Safety and Health Department to provide technical guidance to the ergonomic furniture program.
- Deliver solutions to meet individual ergonomic requirements with a best-value approach.
- Prepare technical specifications for the procurement of product within the corporate furniture program.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program OR CACB-accredited Architectural program.
- Interior Designer, registered or eligible to register with PIDIM; or eligible to register with MAA as an Architectural Intern.
- NCIDQ qualification is an asset.
- Minimum of two years of related experience.
- Knowledge of sustainable design, with a focus on healthy and productive workplaces, in the area of commercial buildings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Basic understanding of local building codes and standards.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Mature judgment and proven ability to deliver assigned duties with minimal direction and supervision.
- Demonstrated professional communication skills at all levels, both internal and external to the corporation.
- Must be available and able to travel across the Province of Manitoba as required on a project-to-project basis, which may include aircraft.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $36.02-$49.84 Hourly, $69,020.64-$95,503.46 Annually.
