0.286 FTE K-8 Music Teacher at
Silver Creek Elementary School
This is a continuing assignment effective September 1, 2026.
This assignment is Elementary Music K-6 and Band 7/8. The exact scheduling of this assignment will be determined in consultation with the principal.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent;
- Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;
- Orff levels, Kodaly levels or equivalent coursework.
Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:
- successful experience in Elementary Music and Band instruction;
- excellent classroom management skills;
- evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students and parents;
- demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods;
- working knowledge of the renewed curriculum for the Fine Arts;
- commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
- ability to teach ukulele, recorder, guitar, orff, dance and choir;
- demonstrated ability to work collegially as part of a school staff;
- comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events;
- ability to relate effectively to all elementary school students;
- ability to promote support for a school’s Music program;
- successful recent experience working with students with special needs;
- current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology in the Music classroom.
