ENGINEER – TUG BOAT

As part of Kruger Publication Papers division, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited is a quality leader in the manufacturing of newsprint, and holds the Sustainable Forest Initiative Certification as well as being self-sufficient on energy between Deer Lake Power Generation, Steam Power and Steam Recovery. We aim to be fully reliant on clean energy.
Overview Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is currently looking for an Engineer to join the seasonal operation to work on the Tug Boat. This work will run roughly January to April of each year, but may be required for short durations outside of this timeframe.
Responsibilities And Requirements
- Be responsible for all operations relating to the engine room
- Monitor all pressure gauges
- Routine maintenance, oil and filter changes
- Assist with tie-up and docking of the tug
- Other duties as assigned by the captain and/or supervisor
Qualifications The successful candidate must have:
- Successfully complete a Marine Medical
- Obtain MED A1 Certificate (training to be provided)
- Complete required regulatory training, including but not limited to First Aid, Man Overboard, Confined Space, etc.)
- Be able to demonstrate a minimum level of mechanical aptitude
- Experience working on a boat, in an engine room would be an asset
- Must be available all hours and days during the operating season
