LABOURER - UTILITIES CONSTRUCTION

(Temporary Full-Time)

The District Of West Vancouver’s Engineering Construction Department Currently Has Temporary Full-time Labourer Positions Available In The Utilities Construction Team. The Successful Candidate Will Perform a Variety Of Manual Tasks, Which Include

performing a variety of tasks in the construction or operation of water, sewer and storm utility systems; locating and repairing leaks, assisting in the installation, repair, and servicing of water, sewer and storm systems; cleaning trucks and equipment, as needed; maintaining equipment in a safe and secure manner; operating basic hand and power tools; such as, shovels, pipe saws, plate tamper, etc.; maintaining daily pick-up records; providing manual labourer assistance on various tasks and assignments; and, other related duties as required.

The Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate The Ability To

work effectively and efficiently in a team environment while maintaining a safety-first mentality; use a variety of tools for general maintenance and construction work; and, work outdoors in a physically demanding role in all types of weather conditions.

Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following credentials

experience or training in utilities construction; EOCP Certification; and/or, possession of a valid Class 1 or 3 BC Drivers Licence.

Candidates must hold a valid BC Class 5 Driver's License. Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract, a police information check, and copies of relevant credentials. Hours Of Work

40 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Starting Rate Of Pay

$31.96 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits

This position has a pay structure with three steps which increase based on hours completed in the position.
