THE ROLE

The Strength and Conditioning Specialist designs and delivers high quality, challenging, specialized physical fitness classes to unit personnel. They conduct unit physical fitness evaluations and exercise prescriptions in accordance with Canadian Forces (CF) policies and procedures. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist assists with the conduct of laboratory and other advanced physical fitness evaluations for unit personnel, as required. They also assist with the development of unique individual and collective training programs based upon evaluation results.

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field AND several years of experience in physical fitness administration, physical fitness evaluation, or a related field

Current Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP)

National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification

Current CPR And Basic First Aid Qualifications

Unit specific physical fitness standards, as required

Experience

Conducting physical fitness programs

Designing individual and group strength and conditioning programs for elite level personnel

Physical fitness evaluation of personnel

Conducting advance exercise testing and prescription

Designing and delivering specialized fitness training programs to enhance physical performance

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Language Requirements

English Essential, Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Reading: Functional

Writing: Functional

Oral: Functional
