What you'll do:
- Analyse monthly operating results and prepare detailed variance explanations across labour, material, overhead, purchase price, and other key cost drivers for management review.
- Maintain and update standard costs within the ERP system, regularly reviewing and adjusting figures as necessary to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) reviews to support effective staffing, purchasing, and supply chain planning decisions.
- Prepare and review comprehensive inventory reconciliations, including valuation assessments and necessary adjustments to maintain data integrity.
- Support the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts by providing input on cost drivers and working capital assumptions.
- Work collaboratively with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams to develop robust reporting tools and dashboards that enhance cost transparency and forecasting precision.
- Participate in month-end close activities by preparing journal entries and performing reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounting functions.
- Provide expert cost analysis support for special projects such as margin reviews or process improvement initiatives aimed at optimising operational efficiency.
- Act as a subject matter expert for ERP cost and inventory modules, offering guidance to colleagues across departments as needed.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the finance department.
What you bring:
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in cost accounting or financial analysis roles within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable for this position.
- Demonstrated expertise in cost analysis techniques, inventory accounting practices, and variance reporting methodologies is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel alongside strong skills across the broader Microsoft Office suite is essential for success in this role.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems-particularly IQMS or DELMIAWorks-is considered an asset but not mandatory.
- Exceptional analytical abilities combined with meticulous attention to detail enable you to deliver accurate financial insights under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills allow you to collaborate effectively with both finance professionals and operational teams across multiple locations.
- Proven capability in managing multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy is vital for this fast-moving environment.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; holding a CMA or MBA qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
- A willingness and ability to travel occasionally to plant locations demonstrates your commitment to supporting operational needs beyond the office setting.
