##POSITION SUMMARY
As theFashion Head Instructor, you will be responsible for leading program instruction, overseeing instructional staff, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience for all campers. You will support the delivery of a high-quality, hands-on fashion and sewing program while maintaining strong standards in safety, organization, and camper experience.
Applicants should be a post-secondary student or have equivalent experience in fashion design, textiles, education, or a related discipline. Campers will step into the world of fashion design and sewing, learning essential skills to bring their creative visions to life. Throughout the week, they’ll master safe workspace setup, accurate measuring and cutting, and explore fabric handling techniques. Campers will practice hand sewing basics like threading and simple stitches, and gain confidence using a sewing machine for straight stitching and tension adjustments. They’ll also discover the art of design and creativity, sketching ideas, choosing fabrics, and adding finishing touches such as hems and seam finishes for a polished look.
In addition to these core skills, campers will learn how to read and follow simple patterns, pin and press fabric for professional results, and experiment with embellishment techniques to make their projects unique. By the end of the week, each camper will have completed their own custom-designed piece and developed a strong foundation in sewing and fashion design. To make the experience even more enjoyable, campers will receive a nutritional hot lunch served daily in our cafeteria, fueling their creativity for an exciting day of hands-on projects. No prior experience is needed—just imagination and a passion for fashion!.

- Develop, plan, and supervise respective summer camp program
- Create activities that are welcoming to join and inclusive to all abilities and personality types
- Instruct and lead specialized activities with campers and instructors
- Design schedules for activities that allow for the highest quality experience
- Make sure that other programs can be coordinated
- Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers, staff, and visitors
- Follow and ensure camp procedures and policies are always adhered to including Appleby’s Mutual Respect Policy
- Maintain high levels of professionalism and public relations, demonstrating a courteous attitude toward participants, parents, staff, visitors, and parents
##YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU
- Have post-secondary education or a minimum completion of 2nd year
- Drive excellence in instructional abilities in program area
- Acquired appropriate balance of “fun”damentals vs education/skill development
- Have experience in teaching and/or instructing specific STEM programs is preferred
- Possess team leading abilities (Completion of a leadership program is an asset)
- Are exceptional in verbal and written communication skills
- Create positive working relationships with staff members
- Provide progress reports, suggestions for improvement, and voices concerns to the Camp Director
- Exhibit high level of professionalism and public relations, with an extremely courteous approach to participants, staff, visitors, and parents/guardians.
- Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills
- Can demonstrate effective problem-solving skills
- Are able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances
- Have valid Standard First Aid and CPR – C or higher
- Possession of Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding would be considered an asset

- Camp Session Dates: June 22 – August 28, 2026 (excluding June 29 and holidays)
- Monday to Friday 8:15am–4:15pm
- Mandatory Orientation: First day of each week, 7:30am–4:30pm
