Position Overview: UX Manager is a passionate and proven visionary who defines and drives the next generation of user experiences for our mobile and web products, and leads a team of Design Strategists, UX Designers, and UX Writers.
The successful candidate is able to understand the goals of the organization, the needs of our customers, and can foster strong relationships with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders.
Overview
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
- Gains a thorough understanding of customer and associate needs, both existing and potential, and uses that knowledge to help design products that provide Home Depot customers and associates with an unparalleled shopping experience.
- Aligns user experience efforts across products and projects.
- Communicates with key user and operational groups to understand business needs.
- Elicits ideas and assists team members with gaining shared understanding and aligns the product team and stakeholders.
- Presents complex design concepts, user needs, and design rationale to multidisciplinary teams, as well as to key stakeholders and business partners.
- Identify team needs with regard to process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc. and make necessary enhancements.
- Balances multiple inputs of priorities and needs, making sure inter-dependencies are understood and planned for effectively.
- Proactively drive innovation initiatives and products to execution, often dealing with ambiguity.
Delivery & Execution:
- Capture design requirements and project goals.
- Provides guidance on design of products while keeping in mind dependencies and integration with other products across the enterprise.
- Reviews recommended designs and work of UX team members to ensure that designs are aligned with company, stakeholder, and end user priorities.
- Receives and prioritizes incoming requests from business partners and stakeholders.
- Communicates project and program status.
- Guides the analysis of user experience data and provides recommendations to address business needs.
- Coaches and pairs with team members (UX, engineering, and product management) across portfolios to design solutions and share best practices.
- Guides the creation of designs such that information is easy to find, consume and understand.
- Guides the communication of ideas and designs to end users and product team members, engineering and business stakeholders.
People Management:
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to UX professionals.
- Plans and allocates resources for projects.
- Conducts regular reviews, reviewing individual development plans and providing performance feedback.
- Fosters collaboration with team members (UX, Engineering, Product Management, etc.) to drive value and identify and resolve impediments.
- Acts as a proponent of UX practices.
- Advocates for the end user and stakeholder by becoming associated with the product, empathizing with and understanding user needs.
- Guides more junior team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks.
- Participates in and contributes to learning activities.

Minimum Education:
- University/College degree in a related area of study, or equivalent experience
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in UX design, interaction design, UX research, or design strategy.
Minimum Leadership Experience:
- Experience managing a team of UX professionals.
