Body Work Technician
About the role
The Body Work Technician is responsible for repairing, restoring, and maintaining the body and exterior components of the Company's fleet of heavy-duty vehicles, light vehicles, trailers, waste collection equipment, and other mobile assets. The position ensures that all body repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, minimizing vehicle downtime while maintaining the Company's professional image.
Key Responsibilities
Body Repairs Inspect damaged vehicles and equipment to determine the extent of body repairs required. Repair dents, panels, frames, doors, fenders, bumpers, steps, and other body components. Remove and replace damaged body parts and accessories. Straighten frames and structural components using appropriate repair techniques. Prepare damaged surfaces for painting, including sanding, filling, and priming.
Vehicle Restoration Restore company vehicles and equipment to Company standards. Repair rust damages, and structural defects. Replace glass, mirrors, lights, trim, and related components where required. Assist with repainting and refinishing work as necessary.
Inspection & Maintenance Conduct routine inspections of vehicle bodies to identify damage and deterioration. Recommend repairs or replacement of damaged components. Maintain accurate repair records and work orders. Ensure repairs are completed within established timeframes.
Qualifications Certificate or Technical/Vocational Qualification in Auto Body Repair, automotive repair or related trade. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in automotive body repair or collision repair. Experience working on heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, trailers, or industrial equipment is preferred. Welding and fabrication experience will be considered an asset. Ability to safely operate body repair equipment. Strong attention to detail.
