Position: Senior Data Architect (Cloud)
Client: Public Sector
Location: Ottawa (remote)
Duration: Five Months (Potential for extension)

Background: Our public sector client is undergoing a digital transformation program. This program will ensure the proper management of digital data as an asset to be utilized for descriptive and predictive data analytics purposes, in support of daily business functions, analysis, operational management. This digital capability will be created and managed on a Microsoft Azure cloud based digital enterprise network environment provided. To that end, our clients need to harness the full potential of Microsoft Fabric, unlocking the power of their data and driving business transformation through business analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
Qualifications:
- End to end ETL experience in cloud (ingestion, transformation etc)
- Federal Government security clearance must already be in hand (non-negotiable)
- Experience with full and incremental loads, experience with batching
- Experience working on/developing/creating enterprise solutions/data lakes, enterprise reporting databases
- Business Analyst experience creating mapping documents good to have
- Fabric experience ideal, AWS/Azure/Databricks okay (Cloud experience a must)
- Power BI experience & understanding of semantic models good to have
Expected Tasks:
- Contribute to the design and development of enterprise-level data solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes, and real-time analytics platforms, using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Azure.
- Actively participate in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of data architecture solutions, including estimation, solution planning to meet internal clients' requirements and outcomes.
- Design, develop and produce data models of relatively high complexity, leveraging a sound understanding of data modeling standards to ensure high quality.
- Assist in the delivery of data flows, data pipelines, and notebook code in pyspark and python to extract, transform and load data from disparate data sources into data lakes and data warehouses in a form that is consumable by analytics processes, for projects with moderate complexity, using strong technical capabilities.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in our data architecture and engineering processes, and proactively recommend strategies for optimization and efficiency.
