#Position Profile

The Edmonton EXPO Facility Maintenance Services Group is looking for aPart-Time B****uilding Control Operator. This is skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of building automation, HVAC, heating and boiler systems, pressure vessels and associated equipment.

The Building Control Operator is governed under the CUPE, Local 30 Union. Work in this class involves the completion of work received by work order and occasionally accompanied by oral or written instructions. Work is normally performed unsupervised but is checked during process or upon completion for general workmanship and compliance with established standards and practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing duties and responsibilities relating to the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Heating Plants, Cooling Plants, auxiliary equipment, and various HVAC systems as per the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
  • Perform and record all routine checks of facility heating plants and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform necessary work as required to bring heating boilers online or layup for service.
  • Perform water treatment testing as outlined in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section VI, Care and Operations of Heating Boilers and Cooling Plants.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as issued.
  • Prepare boilers and pressure vessels for yearly inspection by the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA)
  • Co-ordinate shutdown of equipment as required for events or Building Automation.
  • Ensure that mechanical rooms are kept neat and clean.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Fourth Class Power Engineer certification.
  • WHMIS Training and Certificate.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license (abstract must be provided upon request).
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Two years of experience working with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems. Siemens or Johnson Controls Building Automation systems would be an asset.
  • Two years' experience working as a Power Engineer.
