About the role
The Senior Financial Analyst is a key contributor to strategic planning, financial performance management, and operational efficiency in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for leading financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and inventory management, while supporting plant leadership with actionable insights. The analyst plays a critical role in overseeing financial operations for assigned projects and driving continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making. This position is located in Markham, ON.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with business managers to develop, maintain, and improve financial models, forecasts, and budgets for assigned projects.
- Manage critical accounting processes including inventory management, cost accounting, revenue recognition, warranty accounting, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Analyze project costs, identify cost drivers, track actual vs. standard costs, and recommend opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvements.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, performance metrics, and variance analyses to plant leadership and corporate stakeholders (e.g., OFI, inventory commentary, and Controller's comments).
- Review profit & loss (P&L) statements and conduct variance analysis.
- Analyze short- and long-term cash flows and evaluate financial performance.
- Support plant performance improvement initiatives by providing actionable financial insights.
- Oversee the complete fixed asset lifecycle, including acquisition tracking, depreciation management, and disposals.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing year-end audit packages.
- Collaborate with other finance departments across the organization to improve financial transparency and streamline processes.
- Work cross-functionally with various finance teams and departments to support business operations.
- Develop and analyze ad hoc financial reports as required by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation required.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting/financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in automotive manufacturing is a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, standard costing, and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, lookups, etc.); experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment.
