Contribute to the Ontario Science Centre's cloud transformation
In this high-impact role, you will work with modern cloud technologies, redesign network architecture, implement best-in-class security practices, and support major projects. You will play a key role in ensuring everything is secure, reliable, and scalable, and that the cloud migration is successful for our on-premises infrastructure and applications
About the job
As a Senior Systems Technologist, you will:
- design secure, scalable cloud and network systems that meet business and cybersecurity needs
- collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to align designs and ensure smooth execution
- lead migration planning, including workload assessment, risk analysis, dependency mapping, and sequencing migration waves
- establish cloud governance, best practices, and operational standards, including identity, network design, monitoring, and cost-management frameworks
What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge and IT management skills
You have:
- extensive experience with infrastructure, technical architecture, security requirements, privacy protection standards, networks, operational environments and other technologies and industry trends to support project work
- ability to apply security, containerization methodologies and concept to design scalable systems
- familiarity with cloud platforms (such as Azure/AWS) and IaC tools to design scalable systems
- extensive knowledge of routing/switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, hybrid networking, zero trust network and network automation
- the ability to manage Microsoft 365, Microsoft Cloud and Azure environments
- knowledge of VMware, Windows Server administration, patch management, exchange server, file server, permission management and other Windows server management
- experience leading client meetings to gather, confirm, and document requirements
- the ability to assess service risks and give recommendations based on potential impacts to the business
Research, analytical and problem-solving skills
You can:
- demonstrate research, analytical, reasoning, attention to detail and sound judgement skills to investigate and resolve issues
- identify I&IT solutions to meet client and program needs, and provide clear technical requirements for planning documents
- spot technical or operational problems, analyze them, and choose the most appropriate action to resolve them
- identify, track, and manage risks and issues through to resolution or migration
Project management skills
You have:
- knowledge of project planning methods and project management skills to lead major projects that support the Centre's strategic plan
- team leadership skills to coordinate technical project plans, guide project teams, set priorities and assign activities to teams
- knowledge of risk assessment methods to evaluate options and recommend the best solutions
- the ability to identify the right resources for projects and ongoing work
Interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
You can:
- build and maintain working relationships with clients, management and technical teams to achieve goals
- use oral and written communication skills to create and present technical/business documents, project reports, proposals, status reports, business cases, recommendations and presentations
- lead technical discussions and explain complex topics to non-technical audiences and business users
- user leadership and team-building skills to engage project teams, support collaboration, and focus on achieving deliverables
- apply consultation, negotiation and mediation skills to communicate deliverables, resolve conflicts, and maintain working relationships across teams and departments
