We are seeking a strong, dynamic and talented individual to join our Legal and Compliance team in the capacity of Senior Compliance Consultant, Regulatory and Policy. In this role, you will play a key part in monitoring and interpreting regulatory requirements, supporting the development and maintenance of compliance policies, and providing practical guidance to business partners. Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do:
Monitor and assess regulatory requirements across business lines to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable legislation, guidelines, and corporate policies Analyze complex legislation, regulations, and industry guidance, translating requirements into clear, actionable business practices Provide expert advice and guidance to business units on regulatory requirements, product development, and operational processes to ensure compliance Support the identification, assessment, and implementation of regulatory changes, working closely with stakeholders to ensure timely and effective adoption Contribute to compliance governance activities, including committee participation, reporting, and oversight of compliance initiatives Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies to address compliance matters, support filings, and respond to inquiries Identify gaps, risks, or inefficiencies within existing processes and recommend improvements to strengthen compliance practices Prepare and deliver reports, documentation, and presentations for senior management and compliance committees.
What you’ll bring:
Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as business, law, finance, or a related discipline Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry, with exposure to regulatory compliance, policy interpretation, or governance functions Strong knowledge of insurance products, regulatory environments, and applicable federal and provincial legislation Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and industry guidelines within a business context Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and provide well-reasoned recommendations Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex regulatory concepts to diverse audiences Experience reviewing and advising on product materials, contracts, and business initiatives for regulatory compliance Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders High attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in documentation, reporting, and compliance activities Ability to work independently and take ownership of compliance initiatives while contributing to team objectives Experience interacting with regulatory bodies, industry groups, or governance committees is considered an asset
