Mount Royal University’s Business and Retail Services compliments the student and employee experience by providing a wide range of offerings to the University community including access to the Bookstore, Document Services, Parking and Transportation Services, Events and Conference Services, and Hospitality Services (Retail Food Service, Catering, Beverage and Snack Vending, and ATM banking).
About ONECard The ONECard is Mount Royal University’s official campus ID, granting students, employees, and alumni access to essential services, campus spaces, and the UPass program. The ONECard Office supports thousands of users each term through in-person support, card production, and digital account troubleshooting.
About The Role The ONECard Services Assistant supports the ONECard Office at Mount Royal University in a casual, customer service–focused capacity. Reporting to the ONECard Coordinator, you will serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, and faculty accessing ONECard services. Key responsibilities include processing card applications, issuing UPass stickers, troubleshooting account or MyFare app issues, and helping maintain smooth daily operations—particularly during high-volume periods like the start of the Fall semester (August/September). Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact via phone, email, and in person for inquiries related to ONECards, UPass eligibility, and account status
- Process applications, including photo capture, card printing, and distribution
- Confirm UPass eligibility and issue stickers or assist with MyFare app setup
- Troubleshoot account or access issues, including syncing problems and app errors
- Shift between front-line duties—such as intake, pickup, and general inquiries—based on demand
- Record transactions accurately and escalate complex cases to full-time staff
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced, high-demand environments (especially during semester startup)
- Detail-oriented and able to follow procedures accurately
- Comfortable using office systems, web-based platforms, and mobile applications
- Experience in front-desk or customer-facing roles preferred
- Familiarity with MRU systems or campus services is considered an asset
