About the role
Being an Engineering and Quality Systems Manager with us means taking on a strategic role at the heart of the organization’s product development and quality operations. You will be responsible for deploying and ensuring the compliance of the quality strategy, systems, and tools, while developing highly competent teams. You will play a key role in balancing prevention, continuous improvement, root cause analysis, rapid interventions, and sustainable solutions. You will also be central to the Product Development Process (PDP).
As the Engineering and Quality Systems Manager, you will act as a true partner to senior leadership, actively participating in strategic planning and overseeing engineering and quality teams.
Results-driven, motivating, and strategic, you will contribute to the overall performance of the company, continuous product improvement, and team development in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Strategic Leadership and Governance
- Lead and manage employees reporting to the engineering and quality teams;
- Participate in the development of new products and modifications to existing products, in collaboration with Sales and Marketing teams;
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ERP systems;
- Design and develop proprietary production-related equipment;
- Ensure company and product compliance with provincial, national, and international regulatory requirements (CSA, UL, ASME, ATEX, IECEx);
- Continuously improve product safety, reliability, ease of assembly, cost efficiency, and product offerings;
- Approve engineering changes (ECNs), ensuring designs meet applicable codes, specifications, and manufacturing capabilities;
- Provide Marketing with technical information for brochures, manuals, and promotional materials;
- Evaluate engineering workloads and determine resource requirements;
- Manage and ensure compliance with the ISO 9001 quality program;
- Assist Sales with customer technical support issues;
- Perform heater performance calculations for customers;
- Keep up to date with new technologies for existing and future product development;
- Ensure personal and team health and safety in the workplace.
You are the ideal candidate if you have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
- 10–15 years of experience in engineering design and manufacturing;
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or equivalent (APEGA);
- Minimum of 4 years in a management or supervisory role;
- Experience in electrical design and knowledge of ASME codes, Section VIII-1;
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and experience in the oil & gas industry (an asset);
- Advanced skills in SolidWorks (3D CAD) and ERP systems;
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office);
- Excellent written and spoken English.
