About the role

Job Code: 20085 Status: Temporary Part Time (up to 15 months)

Location: Adult Day Program (Hildegarde)

Union: LiUNA PM

Wage: $23.10- $23.65

Posting Period: October 23, 2025 - October 29, 2025 The PSW works as a member of a team to deliver high-quality, person-centered care in the Hildegarde Centre. The PSW is involved in all aspects of the Program including promoting socialization, providing physical exercise, cognitive stimulation, meal preparation, as well as providing basic and hygiene care and assistance with activities of daily living, based on assessed needs and care-plan requirements, monitoring clients well-being, and reporting any changes in client status or concerns. Duties are discharged in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Providence Care Centre.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Completion of Health Care Aide/P.S.W. course from an approved college, equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Prior experience with older clients in long-term care settings or other health care settings minimum 2 years.
  • Experience in working with clients with Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia/disabilities.
  • Food handling certificate
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach [GPA] preferred
  • CPR Basic Rescuer and first-aid certification is preferred
  • Successful completion of a course on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia and/or proven experience working with individuals with Dementia preferred.
  • Completion of Montessori training program preferred
  • Bilingual (English and French) preferred

Position Responsibilities

  • Contributes to creating a warm, and welcoming environment and is attentive to the social, and spiritual needs of clients and their families.
  • Assists in providing a caring, stimulating environment for clients and encourages clients to socialize with others and/or participate in activities.
  • Follows clients care plan to provide consistent behavioral approach with responsive behaviors using Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) techniques, Montessori methods
  • Porters clients as required to and from areas and shares responsibility for settling participants on their arrival and assisting clients to reach their transportation for home when applicable. Assisting in pickup times for clients on Sunday’s.
  • Familiarizes with scheduled care-plans of clients to whom she/he is assigned to provide care., and maintains and updates daily records
  • Provides direct-care for clients as outlined in the written care plan or as requested by the client. Direct care encompasses but is not limited to: assistance with activities of daily living; exercise, positioning; passive range of motion, bowel and bladder care; colostomy/catheter care and any other care required to ensure client safety and comfort.
