About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)

is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.

As a member of the Trauma Team at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) the Regional Injury

Prevention Lead will facilitate the provision of optimal trauma care in Northwestern Ontario through leadership in

clinical practice, education, research and injury prevention. This position will report to the Manager of the Northwest

Region Prehospital Care and Trauma Program

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

* A Diploma in Nursing

* Minimum five years experience in emergency trauma care

* Current certification in Cultural Safety Training

* Understanding of Emergency Health Services, injury prevention and control

* Excellent written and verbal communications skills

* Demonstrated computer competency and skill using GroupWise, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

* Excellent organization and planning abilities

* Experience in developing and delivering effective presentations, as well as experience with education/group

facilitation and coaching/training

* Experience working with community based committees related to prevention of risk taking behaviours such as

alcohol/drug use and injury prevention

* Ability to work independently and or with team members on various projects

* Enthusiastic and innovative with good entrepreneurial skills and self direction

* Ability to work effectively with a variety of organizations and committees, promoting teamwork, collaboration and

partnership development.

* Demonstrated understanding of evidence based practice and ability to utilize data to develop targeted initiatives

The role of the Regional Injury Prevention Lead includes, but is not limited to:

* Coordinating and delivering injury prevention initiatives within the TBRHSC, community and Northwest Region

* Developing and facilitating targeted Indigenous injury prevention programming

* Building partnerships and participating in collaborative initiatives with other injury prevention stakeholders

* Promotes awareness of trauma related issues and injury prevention strategies amongst the public, media and to

healthcare providers

* Seeks alternative sources of funding for injury prevention programs and strategies

* Develop evaluation tools and strategies to meet program needs in order to achieve Trauma Accreditation

* Participation in multidisciplinary research in the area of trauma and injury prevention

Salary Range: $49.500 to 61.870
