Role Description The Electrical Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This role is responsible for designing electrical systems and power distribution layouts for industrial, utility, and renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. Day-to-day activities include developing detailed engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, and schematics; performing load calculations and equipment sizing; and collaborating with project managers, field technicians, and other engineers to support project execution. The Electrical Design Engineer will prepare technical documentation, review vendor submissions, assist with cost estimates, and provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The role also involves continuous improvement of design practices, support for safety and quality initiatives, and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with practical knowledge of electricity principles and power systems. Proficiency in Electrical Design and Design Engineering for industrial, utility, or renewable energy projects. Experience with Power Distribution system design, including equipment selection, protection, and coordination. Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, IEC, IEEE). Competence with CAD and electrical design software (such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools). Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; eligibility for professional engineering registration is an asset. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and safety-focused mindset. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams in an on-site environment. Previous experience in industrial, utility, or renewable energy projects is considered an advantage.
