As a Crew Leader – Landscape Construction, you are responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex landscape builds — safely, efficiently, and to Hutten standards. You lead a crew of 2–5 team members, manage quality and productivity, and mentor skilled builders into future leaders.
This role combines advanced construction expertise with full project accountability.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Planning & Execution
- Plan labour, equipment, material deliveries, and site preparation to meet deadlines and estimated hours
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule daily work activities of a 2–5 person landscape crew
- Delegate tasks clearly and hold crew members accountable to results
- Interpret blueprints, structural drawings, grading plans, and specifications
- Meet with subcontractors and manage quality, efficiency, and timelines
- Work alongside your crew on detailed installations including stonework, structures, plantings, and specialty features
Leadership & Mentorship
- Model professionalism, integrity, and company culture
- Manage safety, quality, and productivity on job sites
- Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new team members
- Complete performance reviews and support crew development
- Refine and implement divisional best practices
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers
Organization & Equipment Care
- Enforce cleanliness and organization of trucks, trailers, equipment, and job sites
- Perform daily preventative maintenance of tools and equipment
- Maintain accurate records of crew hours and materials used
Project Reporting & Accountability

Complete and submit required daily logs, planning reports, site meeting records, equipment inspections, attendance tracking, and billing summaries

Monitor estimated vs. actual job hours and warranty hours/cost

The Seasonality
Landscape Construction typically runs from early spring through late fall or early winter, depending on weather conditions. During slower periods, there may be opportunities to contribute to other departments depending on workload and company needs.
