The Opportunity:
We’re looking for an intern to join our IT Solutions (technology) division for an 8-month opportunity. Vancity’s IT Solutions team, along with our business partners, are delivering an ambitious Business-Technology Roadmap to modernize our core systems to better serve our members and Vancity’s vision for a transformed economy that protects the earth and guarantees equity for all.
Reporting to the Director, ITS Strategic Planning & Operations, this position is responsible for providing high-quality support for various operations, communications and internal events. The successful candidate will focus on divisional communications, employee engagement, and a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
A typical day would involve:
Divisional Communications:
- Developing internal and external communications that align with the division’s strategy and culture, including divisional all-hands meetings, intranet sites and newsletters
- Drafting newsletters, articles, memos, announcements, and presentations for dissemination to employees and other stakeholders.
- Managing communication calendars and assisting with the planning and execution of divisional meetings and events.
Employee Engagement:
- Partnering to develop initiatives that promote employee engagement and a positive organizational culture.
- Coordinating engagement activities such as town halls, training and learning opportunities, employee feedback surveys and recognition programs.
- Monitoring and analyzing engagement metrics, offering insights and recommendations to enhance the employee experience
Operational Support:
- Overseeing special projects and ad hoc initiatives as assigned, ensuring timely and successful execution. This may include but is not limited to invoicing inquiries, vendor relations and administration

You have:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program within an applicable field and eligible for co-op/internship opportunities (i.e. Business, communications)
- Experience in strategic support, project management, or communications roles.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to context-switch in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Openness to experiment with emerging technologies (e.g. Microsoft Copilot and other AI tools)
- A willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
- A high level of attention to detail
Bonus points, if you have:
- Experience with Azure DevOps and project management tools
What You’ll Earn:
This role offers a pay range of $27.85/hr.
