About the role

Role Overview: The Property Accountant will manage the full-cycle accounting for a diverse commercial and residential portfolio spanning Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. This role is critical in ensuring financial data is compliant with local regulatory standards and accurately presented across multiple currencies and entities. The successful candidate will take ownership of the accounting process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting while supporting cross-border operations. This is a full-time, in-office role based in downtown Toronto. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Own and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of financial statements for Canadian, U.S., and UK entities Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records through timely preparation and review of complex bank and balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany eliminations Lead year-end CAM reconciliations and tax recoveries Partner with Property Managers to develop annual operating budgets and quarterly forecasts Prepare comprehensive working paper files with supporting documentation for audit and tax compliance Manage multi-currency transactions and accurately record foreign exchange gains and losses Coordinate with external tax advisors on HST filings (Canada), U.S. reporting (including 1099s and state-specific sales/use tax), and UK VAT returns and Non-Resident Landlord (NRL) compliance

Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance Experience: 3–5 years of property accounting experience, with strong preference for individuals with US and/or UK experience. Software: Proficiency in Yardi Voyager (preferably including international module) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas; Power Query an asset) Experience working with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting environments Exposure to automation tools, process improvement initiatives, or AI-enabled workflows is considered a strong asset
