Compensation Details:

  • Portfolio Risk Management 19: Salaries typically range from $109,810 to $146,413 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
  • Portfolio Risk Management 20: Salaries typically range from $ 127,380 to $169,838 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)

  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver**.**

Team Overview:

The Portfolio Oversight & Governance Team is responsible for assessing, monitoring and reporting on the enterprise-wide portfolio exposures, portfolio health and compliance with limits and risk appetite statements. The team is also responsible for the management of policies, standards and procedures for the Risk Management Office. The team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and health of EDC’s financial activities.

We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic professionals with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to join our team. The Principal and the Senior Advisor, Portfolio Oversight & Governance report directly to the Director, Portfolio Oversight & Governance.

What you will be doing:

  • Develops and implements effective portfolio risk and performance tracking for all lines of business, including early warning risk indicators, and aggregates results at the enterprise level.
  • Assesses, monitors and reports on the relevant Risk Appetite Statement and Enterprise Risk Management Framework measures, limits and thresholds, as well as the risk appetite statements and relevant indicators for all lines of business (lending, guarantees, insurance and investments).
  • Develops, maintains and ensures compliance of the Risk Management Office’s policies, standards, and procedures as well as alignment of the aforementioned with ERM directives.
  • Supports the preparation of the financial section of the Integrated Risk Report and associated Senior Management and Board level insights.
  • Communicates material developments within the enterprise-wide portfolio to the Director and VP, RMO, as applicable.
  • Manages collaborative relationships with the lines of business, Global Risk Management Group, and Finance Group, to ensure open communication and activities to optimize risk data, reporting and analytics to support strong oversight of existing and emerging risks and impact to portfolio health.
  • Identifies and works collaboratively on opportunities to continue to improve portfolio analytics, including via leveraging AI and robotics.
  • Provides expert insights and industry best practices to support and influence strong risk management practices.
  • Supports the Portfolio Monitoring Committee by managing meeting agendas, preparing materials and tracking resolution of action items.
  • Conducts research on evolving issues and trends in the risk management arena.

Principal (Portfolio Risk Management 20) – Additional Responsibilities

  • Has significant depth and breadth of knowledge in portfolio management practices, including credit and non-credit issues and helps define risk appetite and optimal portfolio composition.
  • Leads portfolio management practices, including the gathering, analysis, and effective communication of data including presentations to relevant committees and boards.
  • Leads the impact assessment scenario analysis and market events on EDC’s activities.
  • Maintains a network of internal and external stakeholders and leverages it to enhance management of EDC’s portfolios.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or in a related field;

  • Experience in portfolio management, credit risk management and international trade or related fields as follows:

  • Portfolio Risk Management 19, 9+ years.

  • Portfolio Risk Management 20, 12+ years.

  • Knowledge of risk management principles and practices, including risk identification, assessment, quantification and scenario analysis.

  • Knowledge of EDC’s guarantee programs, insurance programs, investments program and/or corporate lending principles and practices (system of governance, risk appetite, risk metrics and indicators, regulatory environment, emerging risks).

What will make you stand out:

  • Advanced knowledge of lending, insurance and private equity with a risk-reward control perspective;
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management analytics, scenario analysis, advanced statistical and machine learning models;
  • Experience working in a financial services and/or Crown corporation environment.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
