Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. The division is unique in that it is surrounded by a multitude of lakes, golf courses and trails that appeal to an active, outdoor lifestyle while still being in close proximity to larger urban centers.
Grassland School is a community-focused K–9 school located in the hamlet of Grassland in Athabasca County. Serving approximately 75 students, the school provides a safe, caring, and family-oriented environment where individualized support and hands-on learning help every student achieve meaningful success.
Grassland School is guided by values that emphasize collaboration, respect, citizenship, acceptance, and perseverance. Students are encouraged to develop lifelong learning skills, think creatively and critically, and feel connected to both their school community and the wider world. The school takes pride in offering an inclusive environment that reflects the strengths and character of the community it serves.
Grassland School is currently recruiting a Complexity Team Teacher. This position is part of Alberta's provincial initiative to support increasingly complex classrooms. The Complexity Team Teacher works alongside classroom teachers to provide targeted intervention, build student capacity and enhance inclusive learning. This is a one-year term position based on Alberta Education funding.
The key responsibilities include:
- Provide in-class (push-in) and small group instruction to support literacy, numeracy and foundational skills
- Support students with social-emotional learning, self-regulation and executive functioning
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to address academic, behavioural and engagement needs
- Work with and help guide educational assistants assigned to the complexity team
- Assist in developing and implementing inclusive strategies and interventions
- Support students with diverse needs, including EAL learners and those requiring additional supports
