Overview

The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for testing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing new or refurbished waste and recycling equipment (balers and compactors). Equipment is composed of electrical and hydraulic components. While working in the production shop, the electro-mechanical technician will be reading electrical schematics to install, commission and wire panels with PLCs, relays, sensors, HMIs, Motors, electrical solenoids, hydraulic cylinders and other components.

Location: Electrical Technicians will work from our Production Shop.

Work Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble control panels
  • Troubleshoot and fix control panels.
  • Run wire, install, and troubleshoot all aspects of the electrical system as per schematics.
  • Installing, wiring, and testing of control panels.
  • PLC upgrades, downloads, and basic modifications.
  • Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic components – training will be provided in hydraulics.
    • Includes mounting hydraulic cylinders, making hydraulic hoses, replacing hydraulic pumps, and filling hydraulic oil.
  • Analyze work orders and wiring blueprints to determine the need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
  • Maintain tidy and safe work area.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or concerns to Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with panels and sensor components.
  • Experience assembling panels
  • Experience with electrical wiring, commissioning, and repair on panel.
  • Experience working with various components such as: Safety interlocks, Ultrasonic sensors, Photo-eyes, Pressure Transducers, Solenoids, Relays, limit switches and motor controls.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical circuit drawings to properly install, diagnose, repair, and replace various parts and components.
  • Experience working with hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, voltmeters, hammers, and wrenches.
  • PLC commissioning (upgrades, downloads, and basic modifications).
  • Previous working experience in hydraulic systems, an asset.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, an asset.
