Position: Building Manager
Location: Ottawa, ON
Type: Existing vacancy
Hours: 40 hours per week, plus weekend shifts and on-call
Compensation Range (includes salary, taxable benefit & shift premium): $42,000 - $62,000
Overview
As a Building Manager at Homestead, you will oversee the daily operations of the building, ensuring it is well maintained, efficiently managed, and welcoming for residents and visitors. This role involves coordinating maintenance activities, supporting tenant relations, handling administrative duties, and ensuring a welcoming, well managed environment for residents and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning/Maintenance
- Ensure cleanliness of common areas & corridors
- Prepare apartments for new residents
- Facilitate work orders and perform minor maintenance in plumbing & electrical
- Other grounds maintenance
Tenant Relations/Administrative
- Address tenant concerns effectively and promptly
- Maintain positive relations with tenants
- Show vacant apartments to prospective residents
- Collect and record incoming rents
- Serve legal documents as needed
- Rent upcoming suites and complete required documentation
Safety
- Ensure resident safety and security at all times
- Respond appropriately and professionally to emergencies
- Maintain fire safety logs and winter logs
General
- Follow an ‘on-call’ schedule
- Maintain accurate stock control records
- Other duties as assigned by the Property Manager
Qualifications:
- Previous maintenance/cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg (e.g., trash bags, cleaning equipment)
- Reliability, attention to detail, and safe work practices are essential
- Team Player
- Excellent Communication Skills
