##JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Finance, is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, oversight, and excellence in financial accounting, reporting, and financial management services across AGLC. This position builds and leads a high-performing finance team and serves as a trusted advisor to the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Team, and Board by delivering timely, accurate, and insightful financial information and advice.

The Director plays a critical role in ensuring sound stewardship of public funds, compliance with applicable legislation and accounting standards, and the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and practices. Success in this role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate and influence across a complex organization.

##Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a results-oriented finance team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for financial accounting and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, accounting standards, and organizational policies.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reporting, including consolidated financial statements and the annual audit.
  • Ensure effective control over the receipt and disbursement of public funds, and the integrity of accounting records and financial systems.
  • Provide strategic financial advice, analysis, and candid recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Team, and Board to support informed decision-making.
  • Anticipate financial challenges and risks, and develop practical, creative solutions to support achievement of organizational objectives within approved budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and increased efficiency across financial operations.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and external partners through effective consultation, negotiation, and facilitation.
  • Manage significant human and financial resources, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and strategic goals.

##SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum of a University Degree in a field related to the position assignment (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce)

  • 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in finance and accounting.

  • Demonstrated ability to build a positive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.

  • Strong consultation, facilitation, mediation, and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent strategic thinking, issues management, and project management capabilities.

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization.
