Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The missions of BRITE are applied research and workforce development. Its research focuses are drug discovery and health-related research in areas such as neuroscience, cancer, antimicrobials, cardiometabolic disease, infectious diseases, lung disease, and plant genetic engineering. Through the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, BRITE offers programs at the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. levels and provides students with scientific competency and laboratory experience to work in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, or to fully prepare them to pursue advanced studies.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist the Principal Investigator of the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) and Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in multiple research projects, as well as in the training of students in the laboratory. The individual will work closely with the Principal Investigator to generate, analyze, and interpret research data, and to assist with the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals. In addition, the individual will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, including outreach activities and laboratory equipment maintenance, under the direction of the BRITE Director and the Department Chair.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Candidates must have a strong background in cellular and molecular neuroscience with demonstrated experience in handling of rodents. Emphasis is on proficiency in conducting neuroprotective studies in rodents, research productivity, and good oral and written communication skills in English.
Minimum Education/Experience Earned Master’s or PHD in related field.

Teach laboratory module courses (PHRM 4010 and PHRM 4020 – Special Topics: Agricultural Technology), as well as assist in teaching graduate research and thesis courses (PHRM 5800 – Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences; PHRM 5900 – Thesis in Pharmaceutical Sciences); 2) work closely with students on research experiments as part of their training and thesis requirements, including providing hands-on laboratory training.

Work with the PI on multiple research projects to generate publishable data and will assist with manuscript preparation and grant proposal development
