Your Community Impact

As a Philanthropy Coordinator at the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, you will play a pivotal role in advancing animal wellbeing across Ontario by driving donor engagement and stewardship for mid-level, major gift, and foundation supporters. Through exceptional relationship management, precise data integrity, and collaborative fundraising initiatives, your efforts will directly generate critical revenue to support life-changing programs, keep pets and families together, and ensure compassionate care for animals in need.

Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, results-driven fundraiser to join our team in the role of Philanthropy Coordinator. This role is a key member of our Philanthropy team. Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy, you will be responsible for providing exceptional major gift, mid-level and foundation donor stewardship and administrative support to help generate critical donor revenue for the Ontario SPCA’s community-based strategic funding initiatives.

This role is considered a hybrid opportunity that works both remotely and on site at our Provincial Office in Stouffville as needed.

Role Summary

Mid-Level Giving Support (50%)

  • Under the guidance of the Director, Philanthropy and in collaboration with the Annual Giving team, coordinate and execute solicitation and stewardship activities for the mid-level giving program.
  • Responsible for ongoing stewardship of approximately 500 mid-level donors with gifts in the $1,000 - $9,999 range, including executing thank you calls, and drafting, editing, and preparing donor thank you and impact correspondence.
  • Create new and maintain and update existing donor Raiser’s Edge records.

Major Gift and Foundation Support (20%)

  • Maintain and monitor an inventory of available donor recognition opportunities for the organization.
  • Assist with creating customized donor-facing communication materials – including donor impact reports, presentations, gift proposals, foundation grant applications, gift agreements and thank you letters.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of donor stewardship events and visits.

Legacy Giving Support (10%)

  • Support the Director, Legacy Giving with generating legacy acknowledgement letters and donor packages to new legacy donors, intenders, and inquiries.
  • Assist with updating legacy giving donor records in Raiser’s Edge and database clean up as needed.

Philanthropy Team Administration (20%)

  • Create and run Raiser’s Edge revenue, portfolio activity reports, mailing lists and donor lists.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity within Raiser’s Edge, including tracking relationship management activity, updating contact and gift recognition information.
  • Assist with conducting requests on prospect research, data coding, and briefing document creation where required.
  • Track Philanthropy team expenses and provide support to the Director with managing annual budgeting, forecasting and philanthropy team plans and objectives.
  • Liaise and collaborate closely with other functional areas to support Development objectives.
  • Provide support to other Department teams as needed.

  • 3+ years relevant experience in the non-profit sector
  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional initiative, pro-active and flexible with demonstrated collaborative team work ethic and donor-centric mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities on tight deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge
  • A university/college degree or an equivalent combination of education in marketing, fundraising, or related field
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends is required.
