Senior Financial Analyst (Contract)
📍 Hybrid (2 Days Onsite) | 6–12 Month Contract | Strong Potential for Permanent Hire Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Insurance Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to support a major ERP implementation while playing a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations across multiple financial systems. We're looking for an experienced accounting or finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex financial and system-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities Prepare and post journal entries Complete detailed balance sheet, account, and interface reconciliations across multiple systems Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances while ensuring financial accuracy and data integrity Support financial reporting activities and prepare presentations for senior leadership Partner with Finance, Technology, and Operations teams during ERP implementation and process improvement initiatives Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, controls, and system efficiencies Participate in ad hoc projects and business initiatives as required
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience Proven experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis Experience working with multiple financial systems or ERP platforms Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) is preferred
Preferred Background
Experience in Insurance, Banking, Asset Management, Wealth Management, or other Financial Services is preferred but not mandatory. We also welcome applications from Big 4 professionals who have supported Financial Services or Insurance clients, as well as Senior Financial Analysts and Senior Accountants with strong experience in financial close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
