Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a part-time (0.6 FTE) Senior High Online Outreach teacher at Next Step Sherwood Park. The successful candidate w****ill be responsible for developing context, assessments, and overseeing Aboriginal Studies, CALM, Religious Studies, and other core classes as required. They will be supporting independent learners in a flexible, student-centered environment. Must be proficient in project-based learning methods. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, particularly Brightspace and/or Google Classroom, is essential. The ideal applicant is not only a master of content delivery and organization but also excels at building meaningful connections with at-risk youth and families. Passion, adaptability, and a commitment to personalized learning are key. Experience and understanding working at an Outreach are an asset.

Next Step Sherwood Park provides flexible, outreach programming for grades 7 to 12 students with nine teaching staff and five support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education degree

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

  • Effective organization and classroom management skills

  • Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

  • Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
