Job Purpose:

The Energy, Sustainability & Decarbonization Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of energy efficiency and decarbonization strategies across a global banking client’s property portfolio. This role supports the client’s sustainability goals by identifying and delivering impactful energy conservation measures, driving carbon reduction in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Tasks:

Energy and GHG Strategy & Program Delivery

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Energy Conservation & GHG Reduction Program, including procedures and playbooks that set targets, identify low-cost/no-cost opportunities, capital projects, and operational improvements in all geographies, resulting in GHG reductions.
  • Lead GHG reduction initiatives, collaborating with the Sustainability and Environmental Managers, including emissions calculations, reporting, and program implementation.
  • Conduct detailed energy reviews focusing on HVAC, lighting, BMS, and occupant comfort to uncover GHG reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure building systems operate at optimal performance; recommend and implement adjustments to improve energy efficiency.
  • Support the development and execution of electrification strategies, refrigerant transition plans, and renewable energy sourcing (e.g., PPAs, EACs), liaising with Energy Procurement and other relevant teams to embed decarbonization goals into sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure Program delivery remains compliant of regulatory and other relevant requirements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Global E&S Director and on-account teams, and CBRE’s Platform team to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Work closely with Project Management teams in the identification, development and delivery of energy and decarbonization capital projects.
  • Train and upskill local facilities managers on energy and GHG management best practices and decarbonization opportunities.
  • Coordinate with FM inclusion of energy and decarbonization best practice within maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate with third parties, including utilities and service providers, to ensure compliance and performance tracking.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Analyze utility and operational data to validate energy and GHG savings across the portfolio.
  • Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Tableau and Envizi, in line with reporting schedules and ad hoc requests.
  • Manage escalations related to KPIs, financial variances, program delays, and data quality.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices in energy and carbon management.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance program effectiveness and client value.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring documentation and evidence are complete, traceable and accessible.

Essential Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Energy, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred.
  • LEED or other energy accreditation preferred.

Skills

  • Fluent in English; French proficiency desirable.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and data visualization skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficient in property, utilities and sustainability platforms (Capturis, Concentrix, Envizi, Portfolio Manager).
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Well-organized with strong planning and prioritization abilities.
  • Service-oriented with a proactive, innovative mindset.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in energy and GHG management across complex, multi-site international portfolios.
  • Familiarity with GHG disclosure programs (IFRS, CDP, GRI) and building certification standards (LEED, BOMA, BREEAM, ISO 50001).
  • Experience with science-based targets and sustainability frameworks (SBTi, RE100, EP100, EV100).
  • Proven ability to work with supply partners and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.
