Level 3 Systems Administrator
Top Benefits
About the role
Location: Saskatoon, SK (In-Person, No Remote)
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 annually
About Rivercity Tech
We're a people-first MSP in Saskatoon that believes technology should be approachable and secure. Our team thrives on solving complex problems while keeping things human. We value clear communication, creative thinking, and the kind of person who can pivot from an urgent ticket to a strategic project without missing a beat.
The Role
We need a Level 3 Systems Administrator who gets it - someone our CTO can trust to handle anything thrown their way. This role is possibly 60% helpdesk/tickets and 40% internal projects. Everyday could be different. You'll be the technical backbone for escalated issues while building and improving our infrastructure.
This isn't a "sit in the background and work on projects" role. You need to love the variety of helpdesk work AND the satisfaction of building systems that prevent future fires.
What You'll Actually Do
- Solve complex technical issues that stump the rest of the team
- Design and implement networking solutions (site-to-site VPNs, VLANs, routing)
- Manage Windows Server environments (AD DS, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Entra Connect)
- Be our M365 and Intune expert (security, device management, troubleshooting)
- Jump on urgent client calls when things break
- Lead internal infrastructure projects
- Mentor junior techs through challenging problems
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients
Must-Haves (We're Serious)
- 5+ years IT experience (MSP background is a huge asset)
- Deep Windows Server knowledge : Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Entra Connect
- Strong networking skills : Site-to-site tunnels, VLANs, routing, WiFi design and troubleshooting
- M365 expertise : Security posture, Intune device management, troubleshooting
- Helpdesk experience : You understand that tickets come first, projects come second
- Systematic troubleshooting approach : You don't just fix things, you understand WHY they broke
- Clear communication : You can explain complex issues to clients without the jargon.
- Collaborative mindset : You share knowledge, ask questions, and aren't precious about "your way"
Nice-to-Haves
- Microsoft certifications (especially M365/Intune/Entra ID focused)
- Azure Virtual Machines and networking experience
- RMM platform experience
- PowerShell scripting comfort
Red Flags (Please Don't Apply If...)
- You think helpdesk work is "beneath" a Level 3
- You struggle to context-switch between tickets and projects
- You're a "my way or the highway" person
- You can't handle direct client communication
- You prefer working in isolation over collaboration
What We Offer
- Salary : $70,000-$85,000 based on experience and skills
- 30 days vacation (yes, really)
- In-office position in Saskatoon (remote considered for exceptional candidates)
- Health, dental, and vision coverage (50% employer paid)
- RRSP matching up to 5% annual salary
- Health Spending Account ($500/year)
- Wellness Spending Account ($250/year)
- Professional development and certification support
- Innovation Place Parking Pass Included
- Non-corporate culture where your personality matters
Our Environment
You'll work with Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Windows Server, Ubiquiti networking, virtualization platforms, RMM tools, PSA systems, and a modern security stack. We invest in quality tools that let you do your job well.
