Program Instructor - Seniors at Play (Contract)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia is seeking a part-time Program Instructor – Seniors at Play (contract position) within the Parks and Recreation Division. The current opening requires availability onTuesdays and Fridays, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The City does not use artificial intelligence in the hiring process. All job applications are reviewed personally by the appropriate Department / Division. This position is for an existing vacancy.
DUTIES

Set up, lead, monitor, and clean up a variety of programs, such as shuffleboard, carpet bowling, card games, and other recreational activities.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing rules and regulations in accordance with established procedures.

Promote a positive and enjoyable environment while maintaining a focus on participant safety and engagement.

Assist with planning, organizing, and scheduling specialized activities and events for the Seniors at Play program.

Support the creation and implementation of marketing materials to promote the Seniors at Play program.

Assist with general cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Administer first aid when necessary and perform additional duties as required to support program success.

Execute other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and participants.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with older adults is highly valued.
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED from an accredited organization.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential for fostering positive participant interactions.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required prior to the employment commencement date, at the incumbent’s expense.
- A valid Ontario class G driver’s Licence.
Compensation for this position is $18.83 per hour with availability for Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M. Interested applicants are invited to submit an application byApril 10, 2026, at noon.
