Job Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Total Rewards, the Benefits Specialist will be the primary point of contact for the administration and communication of our comprehensive group benefits and pension programs. Operating within a large-scale Canadian environment, this role ensures that our employees across Canada receive seamless support and clear information regarding their health, wellness, and retirement plans. The Benefits Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our benefits data and enhancing the overall employee experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Daily Administration: Manage the full life cycle of employee group benefits and pension programs, including enrollments, terminations, status changes, and beneficiary updates for our Canadian workforce.
- Customer Support: Act as the internal subject matter expert, providing timely direction to employees regarding eligibility, claims assistance, qualifying life events, and coverage inquiries.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate and confidential benefits database files; audit monthly billing statements from insurance carriers to ensure data alignment with internal HRIS records.
- Pension Support: Coordinate the administration of registered retirement savings and pension plans, ensuring all contributions and documentation are processed according to provincial and federal regulations.
- Annual Re-Enrollment: Support the annual benefits renewal process, including the preparation of communication materials and assisting employees with personalized coverage selections.
- Compliance and Reporting: Gather data for benefits audits and generate regular reports on enrollment trends and program utilization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field;
- Exceptional organizational skills with a "hawk-eye" for detail and a knack for following up on complex administrative files;
- Advanced Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables) and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite;
- Bilingualism (French and English) is required for daily communication with suppliers, employees, and stakeholders, both within and outside of Quebec;
- Ability to gather and analyze benefits data to identify trends and generate clear, actionable reports.
