The AMA has a hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will be based out of our Edmonton or Calgary office and will have the opportunity to work from home but will be required to go into the office or attend in person when required. Regular travel throughout Alberta will be required to attend meetings with physicians and government representatives.

Team Overview

ADIUM Insurance Services Inc. offers a broad range of voluntary insurance programs to AMA members, their families and their office staff. Plans include disability, professional overhead expense, life, critical illness, accidental death & dismemberment and AMA Health Benefits Trust Fund (HBTF). ADIUM administers the group life and disability insurance program for the Professional Association of Residents of Alberta (PARA). ADIUM also offers a suite of individual lifestyle protection solutions (i.e., Third-party business) to complement the group insurance offerings for members or to meet the insurance needs of non-members.

Position Overview

The Team Lead, Administration provides oversight to all administrative functions of AMA’s disability, professional overhead expense, life, critical illness, accidental death & dismemberment, HBTF, and PARA group insurance plans. Development and maintenance of procedure manuals, training and supervision of administrative staff and adherence to established departmental performance standards. Also responsible for system maintenance, annual renewal process, premium remittance, reporting, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision and training of administrative staff. Includes performance management and adherence to AMA Staff Guide policies.
  • System Maintenance - Work with ISG to develop, test and implement insurance program changes.
  • Insurance and operation system maintenance – enter all pre-authorized payment transactions for insurance and HBTF and update contact information.
  • Maintain quality assurance for data input into systems.
  • Communications - responsible for verbal and written communication to members regarding premium payments.
  • Creation of Excel files for marketing and reporting purposes.
  • Assist with incoming phone calls, answering general insurance inquiries and distributing to other staff as necessary.
  • Process development and review

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of two-year business/administration diploma
  • completion of Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation through the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist program or equivalent insurance industry courses is considered an asset.
  • 4 – 7 years leadership and administration experience, with a pattern of progressive responsibility.
  • Experience in the insurance field is an asset.

  • Forward looking, able to effectively utilize technology and change processes to improve services or efficiency.
  • Able to prioritize and manage a variety of projects.

The salary for this role is between $74,092 - $96,318 per annum
