About the role

About TK Modular Systems

At TK Modular Systems (TKMS), we specialize in designing and fabricating stainless-steel modular process systems for the biotech, pharmaceutical, food, water, and industrial sectors. We deliver turnkey solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance—and we’re growing our engineering team.

Position Summary

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to support the seamless production of modular process systems. You’ll work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Process, and Electrical Design, Quality Assurance, and Production to develop manufacturing routings, optimize processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold our high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for stainless-steel modular systems (frames, skids, pipework, utility modules).
  • Develop manufacturing process routings and qualifications in ERP systems to populate job travelers.
  • Interpret drawings, P&IDs, and process design documents; translate them into detailed manufacturing plans.
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate concepts, identify potential issues, and propose enhancements for functionality, manufacturability, transportation, and compliance.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with Design, Automation, and QA/Inspection to integrate Factory Acceptance Testing, borescope weld inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Design fixtures and tooling for fabrication, and assess the need for additional equipment.
  • Liaise with supply chain and procurement to specify parts, generate BOMs, and track sourcing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean principles, KPIs) to increase throughput, reduce defects, and streamline operations.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support during assembly, testing, and commissioning phases.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a fabrication/assembly manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience developing process routings in ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
  • Experience with custom or modular equipment manufacturing in highly regulated industries (pharma, biotech, food, nuclear).
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk or CREO preferred).
  • Strong understanding of welding processes (TIG, automatic welding), ASME BTH, B30.20, OSHA, and ASME/CSA standards (B31.1/B31.3 piping, BPE, W59, AWS D1.1).
  • Knowledge of stainless-steel fabrication and sanitary piping systems (asset).
  • Skilled in interpreting P&IDs, structural drawings, and fabricated assemblies for modular skids (asset).
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and client-facing activities.
  • Proactive in identifying inefficiencies and developing solutions to optimize operations.
  • Lean/Kaizen or Six Sigma certification (asset).
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (e.g., GMP, 21 CFR Part 210/211) (asset).

Key Working Relationships

  • Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead
  • Engineering Manager
  • Production Manager

Working Conditions

  • A typical office environment with frequent transitions between sitting, standing, and walking on the production floor.
  • The use of safety and personal protective equipment is required when on the production floor.
  • Some overtime may be required.
